Open Road Trip
Scott and Brandon from Open Road Trip stopped by Indianapolis last night to chat with me about creative commons, podcasting, music, Internet communities, etc. We had a great discussion in about an hour long video session.
These are two ambitious 19 yr olds with bright futures. I was very impressed by their knowledge and eagerness to discuss and face the issues of open source content, creative commons and the future of the Internet.

Dad to Be!
I can finally announce some big news. My wife is pregnant with our first child! Yes, the crazy women in the photo. :) We're so excited. I'm going to be a dad (OMG... I'm going to be a dad!)! Lots of changes in our lives to come.We went to the doctor today and actually had our first ultrasound. Unbelievable. Heard the heartbeat (a whopping 172 bpm - if you believe the old wive's tale, it's likely a girl ... and she'll never leave the house).
A miracle in the works. I will definitely blog more about this topic. Major inspiration for lots of new compositions.
Everything takes work
“Work spares us from three evils: boredom, vice, and need.”
~ Voltaire, French Enlightenment writer, essayist and philosopher. (1694-1778)
I love this quote. Until I woke up and discovered that everything meaningful takes work, I began to put forth the effort it demands. Work is what makes or breaks success. If you despise or not willing to work, you're not following your passion. Go discover it.

Be Creative
"Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties."
~ Erich Fromm, German-American psychologist and humanistic philosopher. (1900-1980)
Very interesting. This relates to many of my experiences when I studied music. Why do I need to know more than the basics (simply learning to play) if creativeness is what drives my art?

Did you know Brittany Murphy sings?
I just picked up Paul Oakenfold's new CD, A Lively Mind (which I love for the most part). I discovered that Brittany Murphy (yes, the actress) sings on the first track, "Faster Kill Pussycat." She's got a great voice. It's a good song.
I did a little research and she claims she's been recording anonymously for years. Interesting. Maybe it's old news. I didn't research the album before purchasing. I buy all Oakenfold's work.
You can listen to the song here.
Paul, come and remix some of my music. I need more than 3 remixes.
