~ Abraham Lincoln (American statesman,16th President: 1861-65, assassinated following Civil War)

Amends
“It is the highest form of self-respect to admit our errors and mistakes and make amends for them. To make a mistake is only an error in judgment, but to adhere to it when it is discovered shows infirmity of character.”

Being Responsible
“Ninety-nine percent of failures come from people who have a habit of making excuses, instead of taking responsibility.”
~ George Washington Carver, African American botanist, teacher who was born a slave (1864 - 1943)
I remember when I was very young, I often said "I can't" or "I'll never." Fear of failure was often my excuse. Never say never. I've proved my fear wrong over and over since the day I stopped making excuses.

Universal
“Music is the universal language of mankind.”
~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
So true. No matter what, we all have the ability to hum the same tune. Music brings strangers together, creates meaning in the meaningless, and is king of nostalgia.

Sample Gates
My wife and I took a visit to our alma mater (Indiana University) this past weekend. So nostalgic going back to the campus. Good times, however, IU lost against Iowa in basketball. I get all bent out of shape watching IU basketball.
The Sample Gates entrance is a hot photo spot. Edson Sample funded construction of the gates in 1987 and dedicated them to his parents, Louise Waite Sample and Kimsey Ownbey Sample Sr. The gates, constructed of Indiana limestone, mark the entrance to the Old Crescent, the site of IU's historic campus buildings built between 1884 and 1908.

Judgement
“If we could first know where we are, and whither we are tending, we could then better judge what to do, and how to do it.”
~ Abraham Lincoln
This topic (judging) has been on my mind a lot. I posted related comments back in January. I believe this topic is very important as we all move forward in life.

GRAMMYs Rock L.A.
Congratulations to my favorite band of all time (just behind is The Police), U2, on winning 5 GRAMMYs.
Related to my own genre of music, Silver Solstice (by Paul Winter Consort) won for Best New Age Album. This was released by Paul Winter's own label (Paul is a saxophonist and composer). This provides great inspiration to me and my label, Tourist Records.
Check out all the nominees at GRAMMY.com. I wonder how long the telecast would be if all 108 categories were aired (5 seconds for each acceptance speech). :) Would be interesting. It's always a bit frustrating to know many artists don't get the same public recognition. Showcasing different genres than the "norm" would be a great way for music lovers to discover new music. Most of us are already well aware of the musicians who get air time and perform. Mix it up.

Use Intuition
“For the spiritual being, intuition is far more than a hunch. It is viewed as guidance or as God talking, and this inner insight is never taken lightly or ignored.”
